There's some truth to what everyone has written - maybe our modern society and its ever-increasing cynicism towards relationships is making it more difficult to meet someone of quality. But it's never been easy to meet someone who you (a) feel wildly attracted to at the same time they are wildly attracted back, who is (b) also a person you can relax and be yourself with, and (c) someone who is healthy mentally, and is (d) compatible with you, and is also (e) single at the same time you are.

Sure, there are patterns - hot girls liking asshole guys. But doesn't everyone want a bit of a challenge? One of the problems with the guys who claim they are "nice" guys (and this does not mean any of the guys here, just a general observation), is that their frustration & self pity starts to show to the girls they meet. If I met a guy who said that to me about all women liking assholes, I wouldn't date him. Maybe he'd be the nicest guy in the world but to me it would sound like he might possibly hate women, and that leads to misery.

Or some of these "nice guys" start to develop desperation pheromones. No woman wants a man who is desperate, just as no man wants a desperate woman.

So...what is the solution? Just keep on keepin' on. Give yourself an honest appraisal. Is the hot girl (or guy) you are going for in your league, first of all? Are you dazzled by someone's looks or are you going for personality too? Because lots of good looking people, both male and female, are not worth going after. They are too spoiled by the reactions to their looks. Someone a little less eye catching but still pleasant looking might be the answer to your dreams.

How's your grooming? Do you dress like a slob or not? Do you have a good job or are on the track to having one? Is your apartment/house a pigstye or neat? Do you have hobbies & interests? Are you generally out there, circulating, meeting people? Are you approachable and friendly, or closed off and unfriendly?

Etc, etc. I was in my late 20s when I met my husband, and I was fully prepared to stay single forever if I didn't meet the one. It's not easy, and I'm glad I'm not out there dating now. Unfortunately nobody can tell you what'll happen in future and who to date. The only thing we can do is give the usual advice for making yourself attractive and remind you to look out for opportunities.

Because there are lots of people who sabotage their own happiness with a sour attitude towards dating. Again, not saying anyone on this board is like that. I don't think that's true and wouldn't presume to speculate about something I couldn't possibly know.

Just try to maintain a positive attitude, along with all the rest of the standard advice. If you start to see women (or men) as "they are all like that" you are, in fact, going to sabotage yourself. So pull yourself out of that slump and get out there, and don't give up!
